This piece was created for a group show entitled Multiplied Light- The Bullseye Chandelier Project, presented by the Bullseye Glass Company's Artist in Residence program. It evokes the lesser-known work of Louis Daguerre, inventor of the Daguerreotype. Daguerre was an experimentalist magician with light, both in his set designs and his invention of the diorama.
Other inspirations included the seven sister Pleiades, a swarm of stars; the concepts of transmogrification and transubstantiation; the casting of light into a solid; oil of frankincense; and Japanese fishing floats.
