Araminta- a Light Beacon for Fire Station #28 in Portland, Oregon

Araminta was Harriet Tubman's given name at birth. The piece is designed to be a light beacon and to inspire our better nature -- to remind us that we should be strong rather than fearful in moments of crisis. It is a reminder that safe harbor is created by those who stand up to injustice.

This sculpture was created for Firestation #28 in Portland, Oregon-

as part of the 1% for art program, administered by the Regional Arts and Culture Council.
